What is ProtectNet Schneider Electric?
The ProtectNet family of stand-alone surge suppressors protects individual data lines, including telephone and network lines, coaxial cables and more. Most voltage-induced damage is caused by surges and spikes traveling along unprotected data lines.
These surges originate from a wide variety of sources, including static charge buildup and lightning. If unprotected, your data lines expose network cards, A/V components, modems and other network equipment to damaging electrical transients. Inserting ProtectNet equipment into your data line and grounding it would prevent the surges that can occur and affect this equipment from ruining your productivity and costing you money.

Data line protection
Protection against power surges traveling through data lines ensures that your equipment is fully protected against surges. It is very important to protect your equipment from “backdoor” surges traveling through data lines, as they can be just as damaging to your equipment as surges traveling through power lines.
Fail-safe mode
Most other surge suppressors continue to allow power to pass through even after their circuits have been damaged, leaving your equipment exposed to future surges. APC surge protectors are fail-safe. This means that once an APC surge protector’s circuit has been compromised, the unit disconnects the equipment from the power source to ensure that no damaging surges reach your equipment.
Lightning and surge protection
The system features a fast-acting fuse that reacts instantly to lightning and other surges. A thermal fuse safely shuts down if there is a wiring fault.
